Cowboy

A work in progress, but this is my cowboy that I've been working on. I wanted to gain skills modeling in Maya so I created this cowboy as a learning exercise. I modeled the head and hat in Maya and had them 3d printed in PLA filament. I then sanded, primed, and painted the head. I utilized a flocking method for his hat. his mustache and eyebrows were sculpted on separately with Propoxie, some faux hair practice is soon to come with those features!

Le Charade: Arm extensions

During several shots in the film The mimes arms grow in length, I was responsible for the prototyping and developing the method for these arms lengths. Due to time we could not sculpt new bodies for each shot. Instead I created these arm extensions. The hands on the puppet were replaceable, so I used that port as the base, I built a second set of arms that would insert into the hand ports and have another end that his hands could insert into. Rubber tubes shot with silicone were used to substitute actual silicone arms. After that there were costumed and fully animatable

Le Charade: Needle felt head

This replacement head was one of 4 used in a face swiping sequence. I created a mold of the mimes head and that mold was used to cast a face in a couple different mediums for the sequence, including this foam face to be needle felted. The colors are not his usual palette because of a very limited wool roving supply. The film is in black and white so I tested all the colors until I found ones that matched in value to the mimes face in b&w. The needle felting process was long, escepically with all the makeup, facial details, and color changes.
