Le Charade: Diner Booth

I was responsible for the upholstery and partial build of this booth. The back consisted of 5 pieces total and the bottom cushion one. After the assembly, I aged the booth and added our "UPA texture". The piping was made with 18 gauge electrical wire that also went through the same aging and texturing process.

Le Charade: Diner Booth Variations

Upa 1

Upa 2
There were three iterations of the booth in total, the original, "upa 1" and "upa 2". The booth pieces were designed in Illustrator and then laser cut out of MDF and masonite. one booth went through a mock upholstery and the other painted.

Le Charade: Striped Room

This is the striped hallway room, or UPA 3 in this film the mime character is descending into madness, this set was the third level of his psychosis as he was no longer grounded with reality. I designed and built this set, The shots using this set are under a 14mm lens so the build had to be oddly shaped to account for the wide angle.

Le Charade: Diner Stools

Another set piece that needed upholstery were the bar stools, I dremeled trenches into the underside of the plastic seats so the vinyl could sit underneath without affecting the way the cushion lays on the seat. After that I upholstered the bases in the same vinyl I had been using for all of the other seats and applied the same aging and texturing process I used with the booths. I then attached it to the rest of the stool with its trim and these stools were done.
